About the Role
Our client is looking for a highly analytical and organized Logistics Planner to join their team remotely, supporting operations in Edinburgh and beyond. You will be responsible for developing and optimizing transportation and distribution plans to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods. This role requires strong data analysis skills, an understanding of supply chain dynamics, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners. The ideal candidate will leverage technology and data to create efficient logistical solutions, contributing significantly to the company's supply chain strategy and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage optimal transportation and distribution schedules to meet delivery requirements.
- Analyze logistics data to identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Collaborate with carriers, suppliers, and internal departments to coordinate freight movements.
- Monitor shipment progress and proactively address any potential delays or disruptions.
- Utilize logistics planning software and tools to model and forecast transportation needs.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of logistics processes and strategies.
Requirements
- Proven experience in logistics planning , supply chain management, or transportation operations.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and generate actionable insights.
- Proficiency in logistics planning software and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent understanding of transportation modes, routing, and network optimization.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.
