Job Description
Due to continued growth and a strong order book, we are looking to recruit a Machine Shop Deburring Operative to join a leading precision engineering manufacturer based in Baildon.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the deburring, fettling and finishing of precision-machined components to meet customer and quality requirements. The role will involve working from engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions, ensuring components are finished accurately and to a consistently high standard.
Previous experience within a machine shop, precision engineering or manufacturing environment would be advantageous. Experience of deburring, fettling, grinding or hand-finishing machined components is preferred, although full training can be provided for the right candidate.
Hours: 40 hours per week – start and finish times flexible within a 5:30am/8:30am start and 4:30pm/7:30pm finish.

The Role
- Deburring and fettling precision-machined components using hand tools and appropriate equipment.
- Removing sharp edges, burrs and unwanted material to meet specified requirements.
- Inspecting finished components to ensure they meet quality, dimensional and visual standards.
- Working from engineering drawings, specifications and standard operating procedures.
- Using a range of hand tools, abrasives, files, grinders and other finishing equipment as required.
- Identifying and reporting quality issues or defects to supervision.
- Ensuring tools and equipment are maintained in a safe and serviceable condition.
- Maintaining accurate production and quality records.
- Working efficiently to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment.
- Following all company Health & Safety procedures, including the correct use of PPE.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and maintaining high standards of housekeeping.
- Working flexibly across the machine shop and production areas as required.
Qualifications / Skills
- Previous experience in a machine shop, precision engineering or manufacturing environment is desirable.
- Experience in deburring, fettling, grinding or finishing machined components would be advantageous.
- Ability to work accurately and consistently to high quality standards.
- Good attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
- Ability to follow engineering drawings, work instructions and manufacturing procedures.
- Comfortable working with hand tools and finishing equipment.
- Reliable, hardworking and able to work as part of a team.
- Strong commitment to quality and Health & Safety.
