Job Overview
Arthur Rose Recruitment are looking for an experienced Maintenance Fitter / Fabricator Welder to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will have strong mechanical maintenance skills, proven fabrication and welding experience, and a background working with heavy plant and machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out mechanical maintenance, fault finding and repairs on heavy plant and associated equipment.
- Maintain, repair and support the operation of conveyors, gearboxes, motors and other mechanical equipment.
- Work alongside the PPM team to understand site operations, maintenance procedures and equipment requirements.
- Identify and address problem areas, particularly spill points and transfer points, to improve site cleanliness and reduce material spillage.
- Carry out fabrication and modification work to improve plant reliability, safety and performance.
- Respond to mechanical breakdowns and assist with preventative maintenance activities.
- Work independently when required, planning and completing maintenance and fabrication tasks effectively.
- Follow all site health and safety procedures and ensure work is completed to a high standard.
- Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in a safe and organised condition.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in a mechanical maintenance fitter role within a heavy industrial or plant environment.
- Strong fabrication and welding skills, with the ability to carry out repairs and modifications on-site.
- Good working knowledge of conveyors, gearboxes, motors and associated mechanical systems.
- The ability to diagnose mechanical faults and carry out effective repairs.
- Experience working outdoors and in an operational site environment.
- The ability to work independently, use initiative and prioritise maintenance tasks.
- A strong understanding of safe working practices within an industrial environment.
- A flexible approach to working hours, including participation in a weekend overtime rota.
