About the Role
Our client is seeking a specialized Marine Electrical Engineer to contribute to their operations based near Plymouth, Devon . This role focuses on the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems for marine vessels and offshore structures. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and safety of power generation, distribution, propulsion, and control systems in a challenging maritime environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of marine electrical standards and practices, possess excellent problem-solving skills, and be adept at working on complex projects that require a high degree of technical expertise and adaptability, contributing to the client's leadership in marine engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and specify electrical systems for new builds and refits of marine vessels.
- Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment, including generators, switchboards, and cabling.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults on board vessels and offshore platforms.
- Ensure compliance with relevant marine classification society rules and international maritime regulations.
- Collaborate with naval architects, mechanical engineers, and vessel owners to meet project requirements.
- Manage electrical project timelines and budgets, ensuring efficient resource utilization.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent relevant qualification.
- Significant experience in marine electrical systems design and installation.
- Proficiency with marine electrical codes, standards (e.g., Lloyds Register, DNV), and classification society requirements.
- Experience with marine power systems, navigation aids, and automation is essential.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and manage projects, with some travel potentially required.
