About the Role
Our client is seeking a specialized Marine Electrical Engineer to join their prominent maritime operations in Plymouth, Devon . This critical role involves the design, installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems on vessels and marine infrastructure. You will ensure the integrity and functionality of power generation, distribution, navigation, and communication systems, adhering to strict maritime safety and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement electrical systems for new builds and refits of marine vessels.
- Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of marine electrical equipment, including generators, switchboards, motors, and control systems.
- Ensure compliance with international maritime electrical standards (e.g., IEC, classification society rules).
- Install and commission navigation, communication, and safety systems onboard.
- Conduct electrical surveys and inspections of marine assets, providing detailed reports.
- Liaise with ship owners, project managers, and regulatory bodies.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent marine-specific qualification.
- Significant experience (5+ years) in marine electrical engineering or a closely related field.
- Proficiency with marine electrical systems, AC/DC power distribution, and propulsion controls.
- Knowledge of maritime safety regulations and standards.
- Experience with marine communication and navigation equipment.
- Ability to work onboard vessels and in port environments, often under challenging conditions.
