Marine Electrical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a specialized Marine Electrical Engineer to join their esteemed maritime engineering division based in Edinburgh . This role is integral to the design, installation, and maintenance of complex electrical and electronic systems aboard vessels and offshore structures. You will work on cutting-edge projects, ensuring the highest standards of safety, reliability, and performance in challenging marine environments. The position requires a deep understanding of naval electrical engineering principles and practices, contributing to the firm's leadership in maritime technology.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical power distribution systems, navigation, and communication systems for marine applications.
• Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment on new builds and refits.
• Conduct electrical surveys and maintenance planning for existing fleets operating out of Edinburgh .
• Ensure all electrical installations comply with classification society rules (e.g., Lloyd's Register, DNV) and international maritime regulations.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults on vessels, often requiring offshore or voyage support.
• Liaise with shipyards, vessel owners, and regulatory bodies to ensure project success.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or Marine Engineering.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in marine electrical engineering, ship systems, or offshore projects.
• Proficiency in electrical CAD software and marine electrical standards.
• In-depth knowledge of marine power generation, distribution, automation, and control systems.
• Experience with navigation, communication, and safety systems on board vessels.
• Ability to travel internationally and work effectively in a diverse team environment.
