About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Marine Equipment Technician to support their operations in and around Plymouth, Devon . This specialized role involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of marine-specific equipment used in both commercial and recreational sectors. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliable performance of complex systems, working both in a workshop environment and potentially on vessels docked in the Plymouth area. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, a passion for marine technology, and the ability to adapt to varying work environments and challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and commission various types of marine equipment, including navigation systems, engines, and safety apparatus.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance checks and servicing on marine machinery and electrical systems.
- Diagnose and repair faults in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems specific to marine applications.
- Conduct sea trials and on-board testing to ensure optimal equipment performance.
- Maintain detailed records of all service, repair, and installation activities.
- Liaise with clients and vessel captains to understand requirements and provide technical updates.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Marine Technician , mechanical engineer, or electrician with marine exposure.
- Strong knowledge of marine engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, and navigation equipment.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic data.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends, and travel within the Devon coastal region.
