Marine Mechanical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Marine Mechanical Engineer for a contract position based remotely, focusing on the design and modification of marine vessels and systems. Key Responsibilities

• Design and specify mechanical systems for marine vessels, including propulsion, power generation, HVAC, and piping systems.
• Develop detailed CAD models and technical drawings for marine mechanical components and installations.
• Perform engineering calculations for structural integrity, fluid dynamics, and thermal performance of marine systems.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant maritime classification society rules (e.g., Lloyd's Register, DNV) and international standards.
• Collaborate remotely with project managers, naval architects, and fabrication teams to ensure successful project execution.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for mechanical systems during the construction and commissioning phases.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in mechanical design and engineering, with a strong focus on marine applications .
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and relevant engineering analysis tools.
• Knowledge of maritime regulations, classification society requirements, and shipbuilding practices.
• Experience with marine propulsion systems, auxiliary machinery, and power generation.
• Excellent remote communication and collaboration skills.
