About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Marine Mechanical Engineer for a contract position based remotely, focusing on the design and modification of marine vessels and systems. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles as applied to the unique challenges of the maritime environment. You will be responsible for developing innovative solutions for propulsion, power generation, and auxiliary systems, ensuring compliance with maritime regulations and performance specifications. Key Responsibilities
- Design and specify mechanical systems for marine vessels, including propulsion, power generation, HVAC, and piping systems.
- Develop detailed CAD models and technical drawings for marine mechanical components and installations.
- Perform engineering calculations for structural integrity, fluid dynamics, and thermal performance of marine systems.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant maritime classification society rules (e.g., Lloyd's Register, DNV) and international standards.
- Collaborate remotely with project managers, naval architects, and fabrication teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for mechanical systems during the construction and commissioning phases.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in mechanical design and engineering, with a strong focus on marine applications .
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and relevant engineering analysis tools.
- Knowledge of maritime regulations, classification society requirements, and shipbuilding practices.
- Experience with marine propulsion systems, auxiliary machinery, and power generation.
- Excellent remote communication and collaboration skills.
