Key Responsibilities

• Design and specify mechanical systems for marine applications, including propulsion, power generation, and auxiliary machinery.
• Perform calculations for fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and structural integrity related to marine environments.
• Develop detailed engineering drawings and specifications using CAD software suitable for marine construction.
• Collaborate with naval architects, electrical engineers, and shipbuilders to ensure integrated system design.
• Conduct technical reviews and site inspections during vessel construction and commissioning phases in Plymouth .
• Ensure compliance with maritime regulations and classification society rules (e.g., Lloyd's Register, DNV).

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Naval Architecture.
• Significant experience (6+ years) in mechanical design, specifically within the marine or offshore industry .
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software and experience with engineering simulation tools.
• Understanding of marine propulsion systems, power generation, and onboard ship systems.
• Knowledge of maritime regulations and classification society requirements is essential.
