Mechanical Design Engineer - Automotive

About the Role

Our client, a prestigious automotive manufacturer, is seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join their state-of-the-art facility in Edinburgh . This on-site role is focused on the conceptualization, design, and development of innovative automotive components and systems. You will be integral to the creation of next-generation vehicles, working within a highly collaborative and dynamic engineering environment. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and systems for automotive applications, including powertrain, chassis, and body systems.
• Utilize 3D CAD software to create detailed designs, assemblies, and drawings.
• Perform kinematic and dynamic simulations to analyze component performance and optimize designs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including styling, manufacturing, and testing, throughout the product development cycle.
• Ensure designs comply with all relevant automotive industry standards and regulations.
• Conduct design reviews, document design decisions, and manage the release of engineering documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering.
• 3-7 years of experience in mechanical design, with a focus on the automotive sector.
• Proficiency in automotive CAD software (e.g., CATIA V5, NX).
• Strong understanding of automotive systems, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with FEA analysis for stress, thermal, and vibration is desirable.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a keen eye for detail in design execution.
