Mechanical Design Engineer - Industrial Machinery

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proficient Mechanical Design Engineer to join their established team in Nottingham , specializing in the design and development of industrial machinery. This role is central to creating innovative and reliable mechanical solutions for a range of manufacturing and processing equipment. You will be involved in the entire design lifecycle, from conceptualization and detailed design to prototyping and production support, working within a dedicated engineering department. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop bespoke mechanical systems and components for industrial machinery using CAD software.
• Create detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and Bill of Materials (BOMs).
• Perform mechanical calculations and simulations (e.g., stress analysis) to ensure design integrity and performance.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers, software developers, and production teams to integrate machine components.
• Support prototype fabrication, machine assembly, and initial testing phases.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical design issues encountered during development and in the field.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in mechanical design, particularly with industrial machinery or equipment.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) and understanding of GD&T.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, material selection, and machine safety standards.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
