Mechanical Design Engineer - Manufacturing Focus

About the Role

Our client is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong focus on manufacturing processes to join their team in Stoke-on-Trent . This role is integral to improving and developing manufacturing equipment, jigs, fixtures, and automated systems to enhance production efficiency and quality. You will work closely with the production and engineering teams to troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement robust design solutions. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys practical application of design principles and contributing directly to operational improvements in the manufacturing sector, based in Staffordshire.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop new manufacturing machinery, tools, and automation solutions to improve production efficiency.
• Create detailed 3D models , technical drawings, and manufacturing documentation using CAD software.
• Analyze manufacturing processes and identify areas for improvement through mechanical design interventions.
• Collaborate with production staff and machine operators to understand challenges and implement effective solutions.
• Oversee the fabrication and implementation of new designs, ensuring they integrate seamlessly into the production line.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues with existing equipment and propose design modifications.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical design, with a focus on manufacturing engineering .
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor).
• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, and assembly.
• Experience with automation, robotics, or control systems is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a practical, hands-on approach to engineering.
