Our client, a leader in the power generation sector, is seeking a diligent Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Derby . This role is critical for the design and development of components and systems for power generation equipment. You will work on projects that require precision engineering and a deep understanding of thermal and mechanical systems. Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical components and systems for power generation applications using advanced CAD software.
- Perform detailed engineering analysis, including stress analysis , thermal analysis , and vibration studies.
- Generate comprehensive technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, and BOMs.
- Collaborate with project managers, manufacturing engineers, and site personnel to ensure design requirements are met.
- Support prototype testing and validation, and provide technical solutions to engineering challenges.
- Contribute to design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives for existing equipment.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience in mechanical design, preferably within the power generation or heavy industry sectors.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., Inventor, SolidWorks) and FEA tools.
- Knowledge of materials, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and rotating machinery.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Willingness to work in a hybrid model, engaging in both remote and on-site activities.
