About the Role
Our client is seeking an innovative Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Research and Development (R&D) team in Cambridge . This role is at the forefront of developing new technologies and improving existing products through creative engineering solutions. You will be involved in the entire R&D process, from ideation and concept development to prototyping and initial testing, pushing the boundaries of mechanical engineering. Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the conceptualization and design of novel mechanical systems and components for R&D projects.
- Develop detailed 3D CAD models , prototypes, and test rigs using advanced design tools.
- Conduct feasibility studies, performance analyses, and experimental testing to validate new designs.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional R&D teams, including software and electrical engineers, to integrate mechanical solutions.
- Document R&D activities, findings, and design iterations thoroughly.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies and research trends relevant to mechanical design and innovation.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in mechanical design and product development, with a strong emphasis on R&D.
- Expertise in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360) and rapid prototyping techniques.
- Experience with experimental design, data acquisition, and analysis.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and a passion for innovation.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
