Mechanical Design Engineer | Water & Wastewater | BelfastVickerstock are pleased to be partnering with an established engineering contractor as they continue to expand their multidisciplinary design capability supporting major water and wastewater infrastructure programmes across the UK.They are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with water industry experience to join their growing engineering team. Initial projects will include ECI work across major Severn Trent and United Utilities programmes, with further involvement throughout tender, design development and detailed design.For a Mechanical Engineer who enjoys seeing how their designs are actually constructed and operated, this offers the opportunity to work closely with process, electrical, civil and delivery teams to develop practical engineering solutions for complex water infrastructure.Why this opportunity?Work across major water and wastewater infrastructure programmesImmediate involvement in ECI projects with Severn Trent and United UtilitiesInfluence engineering solutions before projects reach detailed designFollow projects from tender and design development through to deliveryWork alongside multidisciplinary engineering and construction teamsDevelop your career within an expanding in-house design functionYour new role as Mechanical Design EngineerAs Mechanical Design Engineer, you will develop mechanical engineering solutions across clean water and wastewater treatment and infrastructure projects.You will be responsible for:Developing mechanical designs for water and wastewater projectsSupporting equipment selection, specification and sizingProducing calculations, technical specifications, schedules and design documentationSupporting ECI, optioneering and value engineering activitiesWorking closely with Process Engineers to develop appropriate mechanical solutionsCoordinating designs with civil, structural and electrical engineering disciplinesSupporting projects throughout tender, design development and detailed designLiaising with suppliers, project teams and construction colleagues to ensure solutions are practical and buildableProviding technical support throughout project delivery and resolving design queries where requiredWhat you will need to succeed as Mechanical Design EngineerDegree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related disciplinePrevious mechanical design experience within the water or wastewater sectorKnowledge of mechanical plant and equipment associated with water and wastewater infrastructureExperience producing calculations, specifications and technical design documentationAbility to coordinate effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teamsExperience within consultancy, contracting or design & build environments will be consideredChartered status, or progression towards Chartership, would be beneficial but is not essentialWhat's in it for you?In return, you can expect:Competitive salary and benefits package25 days annual leave plus statutory holidaysCompany pension schemeHealth cash plan and Employee Assistance ProgrammeFlexible and hybrid working where appropriateProfessional development and Chartership supportCycle to Work scheme and wider wellbeing benefitsFor a confidential discussion about this opportunity, or similar Mechanical Engineering positions within the water sector, please contactBrian Mitchell at Vickerstock Recruitment.Discipline(s): ConstructionJob type: Permanent
