About the Role
Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer to join their expanding engineering department in Birmingham . In this role, you will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and documenting mechanical components and assemblies for new and existing products. You will work closely with R&D, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to ensure designs are robust, cost-effective, and manufacturable. This is an exciting chance to contribute to innovative product development and gain broad experience in a collaborative industrial setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using CAD software.
- Perform engineering calculations and analyses to validate designs.
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to optimize designs for production efficiency and cost.
- Participate in design reviews, providing constructive feedback and implementing improvements.
- Support the testing and validation of prototypes, troubleshooting any design-related issues.
- Maintain accurate design documentation and revision control.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 2-5 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in an industrial or product development setting.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software.
- Understanding of material selection , manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, injection molding), and tolerancing.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate technical information clearly.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
