My client, a specialist engineering company, is looking for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Worcestershire. The successful candidate will have previous experience using 2D and 3D CAD software, with a strong understanding of engineering design, manufacturing processes, and the ability to develop practical, cost-effective designs suitable for production.

Job Description

• Create and maintain detailed 2D engineering drawings and 3D CAD models
• Produce manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs)
• Work closely with production, procurement, and project teams to support product development and manufacturing activities
• Ensure designs meet relevant industry standards, technical specifications, and customer requirements
• Support design modifications and continuous improvement initiatives to improve manufacturability, quality, and cost-effectiveness
• Manage and maintain accurate design documentation and technical records
• Apply engineering principles and an understanding of manufacturing processes to ensure designs are practical and suitable for production

Essential Experience / Skills / Qualifications

• Proven experience using 2D and 3D CAD software, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo or similar
• Experience working within a manufacturing or production environment
• Ability to produce accurate engineering drawings, assembly drawings, and technical documentation
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and engineering principles
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage design tasks effectively
• HNC/HND or degree qualification in Engineering, Design, or a related discipline would be advantageous
• Ability to work effectively with production, procurement, and project teams
