Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer to join their innovative team in Coventry . This role involves contributing to the design and development of novel mechanical systems and products, from concept through to production. You will play a key part in translating initial ideas into tangible, functional designs, working closely with R&D and manufacturing departments. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer passionate about product development and seeking to make a significant impact in a collaborative setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual designs and detailed engineering drawings for new mechanical products and systems.
• Perform calculations and simulations to validate designs for performance, durability, and safety.
• Create and maintain Bill of Materials (BOMs) and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with the manufacturing team to ensure designs are optimized for production efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Support prototyping, testing, and validation phases, iterating on designs based on feedback and results.
• Stay abreast of new technologies and design methodologies to enhance product innovation.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in mechanical product design.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks or Inventor.
• Experience with FEA analysis for structural and thermal integrity.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes including machining, injection molding, and assembly.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a keen eye for detail.
