Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Mechanical Design Engineer to join their innovative engineering department located in the heart of Cardiff . You will play a key role in the development of new and existing products, contributing to all stages of the design process. This role requires a practical, hands-on approach to engineering, working closely with manufacturing and R&D teams to bring concepts to life. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and systems using 3D CAD software.
• Create detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Perform basic calculations and analysis to ensure design integrity and performance.
• Collaborate with production engineers to troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement design improvements.
• Participate in design reviews and contribute to product testing and validation.
• Maintain and update design documentation throughout the product lifecycle.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 1-3 years of experience in mechanical design or a similar engineering role.
• Proficiency with at least one major 3D CAD package (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks).
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, injection moulding, and sheet metal fabrication.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate technical information clearly.
• Based in or willing to relocate to Cardiff .
