Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer to join their dynamic engineering department in Coventry . This role focuses on the conceptualization, design, and refinement of mechanical parts and assemblies for a range of industrial applications. You will work within a collaborative team environment, contributing to the full product lifecycle from initial concept through to manufacturing support. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and detail 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using CAD software , ensuring accuracy and compliance with design standards.
• Participate in design reviews, providing constructive feedback and incorporating suggestions to enhance product performance and manufacturability.
• Conduct tolerance analysis and design for manufacturing (DFM) studies to optimize component production.
• Collaborate with procurement and production teams to source appropriate materials and components and resolve manufacturing issues.
• Support the testing and validation of new designs, documenting results and proposing improvements.
• Maintain and update design documentation, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and engineering change notices (ECNs).

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a closely related field.
• Proven experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer or similar role, with a strong portfolio of design work.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar parametric 3D CAD software.
• Understanding of material properties, manufacturing processes (machining, injection molding, etc.), and GD&T.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a Coventry -based setting.
