Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is recruiting a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join their established engineering team in Sunderland . This role focuses on the design, development, and testing of mechanical components and systems for industrial machinery. You will work on projects from initial concept through to detailed design and implementation, collaborating with production and R&D departments. The successful candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a strong grasp of engineering principles, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, reliable designs that meet demanding operational requirements in the manufacturing sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical parts and assemblies for industrial equipment using SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
• Produce detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Perform calculations for stress, load, and material selection to ensure design robustness.
• Support the manufacturing and assembly teams during production, resolving any design-related issues.
• Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Conduct necessary testing and validation of designed components and systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical qualification.
• 3-5 years of experience in mechanical design and engineering.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software, such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or CATIA.
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes relevant to industrial machinery.
• Familiarity with engineering standards and documentation practices.
• Ability to work effectively within a team and manage individual tasks efficiently.
