About the Role
Our client, a prominent player in the manufacturing sector, is seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join their innovative team in Manchester . This role focuses on the detailed design and development of mechanical components and systems for a range of industrial applications. You will be responsible for transforming concepts into detailed engineering designs, ensuring functionality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. The position is ideal for an engineer with a strong foundation in CAD and a passion for creating high-quality mechanical solutions within a progressive manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed mechanical designs and 3D models for new and existing products using CAD software.
- Produce precise 2D manufacturing drawings with appropriate tolerances, material specifications, and finishing requirements.
- Conduct design reviews, identify potential issues, and implement solutions to optimize performance and manufacturability.
- Work closely with manufacturing engineers and suppliers to ensure designs are compatible with production processes and capabilities.
- Assist in the preparation of Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical documentation for new product introductions.
- Support the testing and validation of prototypes and production components, providing technical feedback for design refinement.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering , Design Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer , with a strong portfolio of design work.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software, such as SolidWorks , Creo, or similar platforms.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes, including machining, fabrication, and assembly techniques.
- Familiarity with basic stress analysis and material selection principles.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical information clearly.
