Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to their innovative product development efforts based in Coventry . This role is central to translating customer needs and technical requirements into robust, manufacturable designs. You will work within a collaborative engineering department, leveraging your expertise in CAD and mechanical principles to design new products and improve existing ones. This position is ideal for a proactive engineer eager to make a tangible impact in the automotive components industry, working on exciting projects that push the boundaries of technology.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop new mechanical parts and assemblies for automotive applications using SolidWorks.
• Create and maintain detailed 2D and 3D CAD models, drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Conduct design reviews and ensure designs meet performance, cost, and manufacturability targets.
• Support prototyping and testing activities, analyzing results and implementing design modifications.
• Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing teams to resolve design-related issues.
• Stay abreast of new technologies and industry best practices in mechanical design.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 3-5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical design.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
• Understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and DFM (Design for Manufacturability).
• Experience with product development lifecycle from concept to production.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
