Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and enthusiastic Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Derby . This is an office-based position offering a collaborative and hands-on working environment. You will be instrumental in the design and development of new mechanical components and systems, contributing to a variety of exciting projects. You will work closely with experienced engineers and technicians, ensuring that all designs meet stringent performance, safety, and quality standards required in the industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Create detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using CAD software .
• Perform basic engineering calculations and analysis to support design decisions.
• Assist in the development of prototypes and participate in testing procedures.
• Prepare and manage Bill of Materials (BOM) and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and assembly teams to ensure design for manufacturability and assembly (DFMA).
• Support senior engineers with project tasks and problem-solving activities.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification (HND/HNC).
• 1-3 years of experience in mechanical design or a related engineering role.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software is essential.
• Basic understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
