About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Mechanical Design Lead to head their engineering team in Brighton . This leadership position will oversee the entire mechanical design process, from initial concept development to final product release. You will guide a team of talented engineers, foster innovation, and ensure the successful delivery of complex mechanical projects. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of strong technical expertise, leadership acumen, and a passion for creating high-quality engineered solutions in the vibrant coastal city of Brighton.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of mechanical design engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
• Oversee the mechanical design lifecycle, including conceptualization, detailed design, analysis, and validation.
• Develop and implement design standards, best practices, and quality control procedures.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation for mechanical design activities.
• Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of mechanical designs with other product aspects.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in mechanical design, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role .
• Expertise in advanced CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) and simulation tools (FEA).
• Proven track record of successfully leading complex engineering projects from start to finish.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials science, and design for manufacture.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team management skills.
