Mechanical Design Specialist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Specialist to join their innovative, fully remote team. Working from your own location, you will focus on creating detailed mechanical designs for components and assemblies that drive the company's technological advancements. This role requires a keen eye for detail, a deep understanding of design principles, and the ability to translate conceptual ideas into precise, manufacturable drawings and models. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a flexible, remote-first work environment and is passionate about producing exceptional design work.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings for mechanical components and assemblies using CAD software .
• Ensure all designs adhere to specified tolerances, material requirements, and industry standards.
• Conduct design feasibility studies and collaborate with manufacturing partners to optimize designs for production.
• Create and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) and assist in component selection.
• Participate in design reviews, providing constructive feedback and implementing necessary revisions.
• Maintain meticulous design records and documentation in a digital format suitable for remote access.

Requirements

• HNC/HND or a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design, or a related technical field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience specifically in mechanical design and drafting.
• Expert proficiency in CAD software , such as SolidWorks or Inventor, including surfacing and advanced part modelling.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes like machining, injection moulding, and 3D printing.
• Ability to interpret engineering specifications and apply them to design tasks accurately.
• Exceptional organizational skills and proven ability to work autonomously in a remote setting.
