Mechanical Design Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Technician to join their established engineering team in Plymouth . In this role, you will provide essential technical support for the design and development of mechanical systems and components. You will be responsible for creating and modifying CAD models and drawings, assisting with prototypes, and supporting the engineers in various project phases. Key Responsibilities

• Create, update, and maintain 2D and 3D CAD models and technical drawings using specified software.
• Assist mechanical engineers in the design, development, and testing of mechanical components and assemblies.
• Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs) and ensure data accuracy in the engineering database.
• Support the assembly and testing of prototypes and pre-production units.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and production teams to ensure design for manufacturability.
• Conduct basic engineering calculations and analyses as directed by engineers.

Requirements

• HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical qualification.
• Proven experience as a Mechanical Design Technician or Drafter.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) is essential.
• Good understanding of mechanical principles and manufacturing processes.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in an office and workshop environment in Plymouth .
