About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to join their specialized team in Plymouth , focusing on marine applications. This role involves the design, development, and testing of mechanical systems for naval and commercial marine vessels. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical systems and components for marine vessels, including propulsion, steering, and auxiliary systems.
• Perform stress analysis and fatigue calculations for components operating in harsh marine environments.
• Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes to ensure durability and corrosion resistance.
• Collaborate with naval architects, project managers, and fabrication teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Develop detailed technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, and test procedures.
• Conduct sea trials and testing, analyzing results to ensure performance meets design specifications.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Naval Architecture.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in mechanical design, with specific experience in marine engineering or naval applications.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and FEA analysis tools.
• Knowledge of marine regulations, classification society rules (e.g., Lloyd's Register, DNV), and maritime safety standards.
• Experience with materials and coatings suitable for marine environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively within a project team.
