Mechanical Fitter/Assembler

Job Title: Mechanical Fitter Duration: 3-6 months Location: West Yorkshire Rate: £20-£24 per hour (Outside IR35)

Overview

We are looking for experienced Mechanical Fitters / Machine Builders to support the assembly of complex equipment for a growing business in West Yorkshire.

Working from engineering drawings and assembly information, you will build mechanical subassemblies and complete machines, including conveyor systems and equipment incorporating robotics. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with experience building machinery and resolving practical fitting issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble mechanical components, subassemblies and complete machines from engineering drawings

• Fit and align conveyor systems, mechanical mechanisms and automation equipment

• Use hand and power tools to complete assembly work accurately and safely

• Carry out drilling, tapping and minor component modifications where required

• Identify and resolve mechanical fitting and assembly issues

• Work closely with the build team to meet project deadlines and quality requirements

Skills and Experience

• Previous experience in mechanical fitting, machine building or assembly of industrial equipment

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

• Confident using hand tools, power tools and mechanical assembly techniques

• Experience with bespoke machinery, conveyors or automated systems would be beneficial

• Practical problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail
