Mechanical Fitter - Manufacturing

About the Role

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Fitter to join their busy manufacturing and maintenance team based in Portsmouth . This role is essential for the assembly, installation, and repair of mechanical equipment used in production processes. You will work closely with engineers and other technicians to ensure all machinery operates efficiently and safely, contributing to uninterrupted manufacturing output in the Hampshire area. This is a hands-on position for someone with a solid mechanical background who takes pride in precision and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble and install new mechanical equipment and machinery according to specifications.
• Perform routine maintenance, lubrication, and minor repairs on production machinery.
• Dismantle, diagnose, and repair mechanical faults and breakdowns.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
• Ensure all fitted components meet quality and performance standards.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to all health and safety protocols.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter or in a similar mechanical assembly/maintenance role.
• Proficiency in using a wide range of hand and power tools.
• Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and technical specifications.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Good attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
• Must have a valid UK driving license for potential site visits or parts collection near Portsmouth .
