Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

About the Role

Our client requires a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to support their operations in Newcastle upon Tyne . This critical role involves maintaining the integrity and functionality of industrial machinery and plant equipment, minimizing downtime, and ensuring a safe working environment. You will work as part of a dedicated engineering team, applying your expertise to uphold the high standards of operational efficiency that our client is known for throughout Tyne and Wear .

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, testing, and servicing of mechanical systems and equipment.
• Respond to mechanical breakdowns and execute timely repairs to restore functionality.
• Implement preventative maintenance schedules and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and maintenance manuals.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including parts used and time spent.

Requirements

• Apprenticeship or formal qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in industrial mechanical maintenance, ideally within a manufacturing or process environment.
• Proficiency in using workshop tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating equipment.
• Strong commitment to health and safety regulations.
