Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
Location: Knowsley
Salary: Up to £45k depending on experience
Job Type: Full-time on site
Shift: On-call responsibilities apply
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a growing manufacturing facility.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled, hands-on mechanical engineer to join a developing production environment, where you will play an important role in maintaining plant reliability, reducing downtime and supporting continuous improvement.
The Role
As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across a range of industrial production equipment and site services.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance
* Diagnosing mechanical faults and carrying out effective repairs.
* Maintaining and repairing pumps, gearboxes, motors, agitators, valves and associated equipment.
* Working on mechanical drives, bearings, seals and rotating equipment.
* Maintenance and installation of industrial pipework and associated fittings.
* Welding, fabrication and general mechanical fitting.
* Working on industrial utilities including steam boilers and compressed-air systems.
* Supporting equipment installation, modifications and improvement projects.
* Identifying recurring equipment failures and recommending improvements.
* Working alongside production teams to minimise equipment downtime.
* Ensuring all maintenance activities are completed in accordance with site health, safety, quality and hygiene procedures.
About You
* At least 3 years' experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably within an industrial, manufacturing, food, chemical or process environment.
* Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
* Experience maintaining pumps, gearboxes, motors, valves and rotating equipment.
* Experience with welding, fabrication and industrial pipework.
* Good knowledge of health & safety procedures and safe systems of work.
* The ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team.
