Job Description
Mechanical Project Manager
Location: Yorkshire based / National Projects Salary: £60,000 – £70,000 + Car / Car Allowance + Package Employment: Permanent
An established and growing Building Services contractor is looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to manage projects across the UK.
The company delivers mechanical building services projects ranging in value from approximately £50,000 to £1 million, working with major Main Contractors and end-user clients.
This is a genuinely national role and significant travel is involved. It isn’t a permanent working-away position, but candidates must be comfortable travelling throughout the UK, with occasional overnight stays where required – for example, ahead of early site or client meetings.
The Role
You will take responsibility for the successful delivery of mechanical projects from initial handover through to completion.
Typical responsibilities will include:
- Managing mechanical building services projects from £50K to £1M
- Planning, programming and coordinating works
- Managing subcontractors, site teams and suppliers
- Procurement of materials and specialist packages
- Attending site, progress and client meetings
- Liaising with major Main Contractors and their project teams
- Monitoring programme, costs, quality and project performance
- Managing variations and changes throughout the project
- Ensuring all required project documentation and processes are followed
- Managing commissioning, handover and project close-out
- Maintaining strong relationships with clients and contractors
The Candidate
This role requires an experienced Mechanical Project Manager with a strong understanding of both mechanical building services and the processes involved in delivering projects for major construction businesses.
You should have:
- A strong mechanical building services background
- Previous experience managing projects through their full lifecycle
- Experience working with large Main Contractors / Tier 1 construction businesses
- A thorough understanding of project procedures, documentation and reporting requirements
- Strong commercial and contractual awareness
- The confidence to deal directly with Main Contractor project teams and senior stakeholders
- Good organisational and communication skills
- The flexibility to travel extensively throughout the UK
This position would particularly suit someone who understands that successfully delivering projects for major Main Contractors requires more than technical knowledge – you must be comfortable with their systems, procedures, programmes, reporting and commercial processes.
Package
A competitive salary and benefits package is available, including:
- £60,000 – £70,000 basic salary
- Company car or car allowance
- Additional company benefits
- Permanent position
- Varied portfolio of projects across the UK
