Mechanical Support Technician

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the mechanical assembly, maintenance, and repair of components and systems on naval vessels and within factory settings.
• Support production teams with tooling, materials, and technical guidance.
• Carry out inspections, fault diagnosis, and basic testing of mechanical systems.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and engineering standards.
• Collaborate with engineers, management, and quality teams to resolve production issues. Essential Skills & Experience
• Proven experience in mechanical fitting, maintenance and production support.
• Familiarity with working on marine platforms (surface ships or submarines) or in industrial manufacturing or maintenance environments.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Strong understanding of health & safety practices in high-risk environments.
• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. Desirable experience
• Defence, shipbuilding, or heavy engineering sectors.
• Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and propulsion systems. The role requires candidates to obtain and maintain SC Security clearance for this role. Hours Monday to Thursday 07:30 - 15:30, Friday 07:30 - 12:30 - 35 std hours per week. xwwtmva Shift and additional hours a possibility. Pay Std £19.53 per hour (PAYE) Std £24.27/£25.34 per hour (UMB)
