Mechanical Systems Engineer - R&D

About the Role

Our client is seeking an innovative Mechanical Systems Engineer to join their Research and Development team. This is a fully remote role, allowing you to contribute from anywhere within the UK . You will be instrumental in developing groundbreaking mechanical solutions for future products, engaging in the entire product lifecycle from ideation to prototyping. This position requires a creative and analytical mindset, with a strong passion for exploring new technologies and pushing the boundaries of what's possible in mechanical engineering. You will work in a highly collaborative, asynchronous environment, contributing to the continuous innovation efforts from Brighton .

Key Responsibilities

• Conceptualize, design, and develop novel mechanical systems for advanced product applications.
• Conduct feasibility studies, rapid prototyping, and performance testing of new mechanical concepts.
• Perform detailed engineering analysis, including stress, thermal, and vibration analysis, using advanced simulation software.
• Collaborate remotely with multidisciplinary teams, including electrical, software, and materials engineers.
• Document research findings, design decisions, and experimental results thoroughly.
• Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and materials for potential integration into future products.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with a strong research background.
• 5+ years of experience in R&D or advanced mechanical design, with a focus on system-level integration.
• Expertise in CAD modeling (e.g., SolidWorks , Fusion 360) and CAE simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL).
• Demonstrated ability to innovate and develop solutions for complex technical challenges in a remote setting.
• Strong understanding of physics principles and experimental design.
• Excellent written communication and collaboration skills suitable for remote work within the East Sussex area and beyond.
