You will be responsible for crafting compelling media pitches, managing press inquiries, and proactively seeking opportunities to enhance the company's public profile through positive media coverage. As a remote-first position, it requires excellent self-management skills and a proactive approach to communication and collaboration within a virtual environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic media relations plans to achieve communication goals.
- Cultivate and nurture relationships with key media contacts in relevant sectors.
- Write and pitch engaging story ideas and press materials to secure positive media coverage.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for media inquiries and interviews.
- Monitor media landscape and identify emerging trends and opportunities.
- Advise internal stakeholders on media-related matters and potential reputational risks.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in media relations or PR, with a strong understanding of the media landscape.
- Proven ability to secure high-quality media placements in national and trade publications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with persuasive pitching abilities.
- Strong network of media contacts, particularly within the Scottish market.
- Experience in managing media aspects of product launches or corporate announcements.
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related discipline.
