About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic Media Relations Officer to join their communications team in Sunderland . This role focuses on building and maintaining relationships with journalists and media outlets to secure positive press coverage and manage the company's public image. You will be responsible for developing media strategies, crafting compelling story angles, and acting as a key point of contact for media inquiries. The ideal candidate is adept at navigating the media landscape and has a strong understanding of earned media, contributing to impactful communication efforts in the North East of England .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute media relations strategies to enhance brand visibility and reputation.
• Build and nurture strong relationships with journalists, editors, and broadcasters.
• Write and distribute press releases, media advisories, and other press materials.
• Pitch story ideas and respond to media inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
• Monitor media coverage and report on results and sentiment.
• Support crisis communications efforts as needed.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in media relations, public relations, or journalism.
• Demonstrated success in securing positive media coverage in national and regional outlets.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong pitching abilities.
• Proficiency in media monitoring and analysis tools.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage deadlines.
• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
