About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Media Relations Officer to join their team, supporting communication efforts from Leeds . You will play a key role in fostering positive relationships with the press, crafting compelling news angles, and ensuring our client's message is accurately and effectively communicated. Key Responsibilities
- Cultivate and maintain strong, positive relationships with journalists, editors, and broadcast producers across various media outlets.
- Develop and write persuasive press releases, media kits, and background materials.
- Pitch stories and secure positive media coverage for the organization and its initiatives.
- Monitor media activity, identify potential issues, and support the development of responsive strategies.
- Act as a spokesperson or prepare spokespeople for media interviews as needed.
- Contribute to the planning and execution of media events and press briefings, ensuring smooth operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
- Proven experience (3-5 years) in media relations, either in-house or agency-side.
- Demonstrated success in securing positive media placements and managing media inquiries.
- Excellent writing and interpersonal communication skills, with a talent for crafting clear and engaging messages.
- Proficiency in using media databases and monitoring tools.
- A strategic mindset and the ability to anticipate media needs and trends relevant to Leeds .
