Media Relations Officer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated Media Relations Officer to join their established team in Belfast . This role is central to managing the organization's interactions with the media, ensuring accurate and positive representation. You will be responsible for building and nurturing relationships with journalists, responding to media inquiries, and developing strategic communication plans to amplify the company's message. This is an on-site position requiring active engagement within the local media community.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a key point of contact for all media inquiries, providing timely and accurate information.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and producers across various media outlets.
• Draft and disseminate press releases, media advisories, and other communication materials.
• Proactively pitch stories and angles to the media to secure positive coverage.
• Monitor media coverage, analyze trends, and report on media impact.
• Support the planning and execution of media events and press conferences.

Requirements

• Proven experience in media relations , public relations, or journalism.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong command of English.
• Demonstrated ability to build rapport and trust with media professionals.
• Strong understanding of the UK media landscape, particularly within Northern Ireland.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple deadlines.
• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a relevant discipline.
