Mental Health Assistant - Newbury
Pay: £90.00 - £105.00/day Start Date: ASAP

A supportive and inclusive SEN School in Newbury is seeking a caring Mental Health Assistant to join their team as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in education, care, youth work, psychology or SEN to develop their skills within a specialist school environment.
Working as a Mental Health Assistant, you will support pupils who may experience difficulties with emotional regulation, anxiety, behaviour and engagement. You will provide consistent encouragement and reassurance, helping pupils develop positive relationships and access their education successfully.
This Mental Health Assistant role will involve:
Providing dedicated 1:1 and small group support Supporting pupils with SEMH, ASD, ADHD and learning difficulties Helping pupils recognise and manage their emotions Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement Supporting pupils who may struggle with anxiety or emotional regulation Building positive, consistent relationships with young people Supporting classroom activities and individual learning Helping create a safe and nurturing school environment Working closely with Teachers and SEN support staff ASAP start Newbury location with good transport linksThe school is looking for a Mental Health Assistant who is empathetic, patient and confident in building relationships with young people. You should be able to remain calm and consistent when supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviour or experience emotional difficulties.
