About the Role
Our client is looking for a dedicated Mental Health Support Officer to provide vital support to individuals experiencing mental health challenges in the Manchester area. This is a hands-on, community-based role focused on empowering individuals to manage their conditions and improve their quality of life. You will work closely with service users in their own environments, offering practical assistance, emotional support, and connecting them with relevant resources and services. Your role is pivotal in fostering recovery and promoting independence within the community, requiring empathy, resilience, and a strong commitment to person-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one support to individuals with mental health conditions in their homes and community settings.
- Assist clients with daily living tasks, including budgeting, household management, and accessing community resources.
- Develop and implement recovery-focused support plans in collaboration with clients and mental health professionals.
- Offer emotional support, encouragement, and a non-judgmental listening ear.
- Liaise with families, carers, and other support agencies to ensure a coordinated approach to care.
- Promote social inclusion and independence through facilitating access to activities and opportunities.
Requirements
- Experience working within mental health services or a related care setting.
- Good understanding of mental health conditions, recovery principles, and safeguarding practices.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, patience, and empathy.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Willingness to travel within the Manchester area and undertake relevant training.
