About the Role

Our client seeks a highly skilled Mine Geotechnical Engineer to join their operations based near Leeds . This role is vital for ensuring the stability and safety of mine structures, tunnels, and excavations. You will be responsible for assessing ground conditions, designing support systems, and implementing monitoring programs to mitigate geotechnical risks. Your expertise will be critical in guiding safe and efficient mining practices, ensuring the long-term integrity of the mine workings. This is an on-site position requiring a strong technical foundation and hands-on experience in geotechnical analysis for mining environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform geotechnical investigations and analyze ground conditions to assess stability risks.
• Design and specify appropriate ground support systems for mine excavations, including rock bolts, mesh, and shotcrete.
• Develop and implement geotechnical monitoring programs using instrumentation such as extensometers, piezometers, and dataloggers.
• Analyze monitoring data and provide recommendations for remedial actions or design modifications.
• Conduct seismic hazard assessments and develop strategies for seismic risk mitigation.
• Collaborate with mine planning and operations teams to ensure safe excavation sequencing and ground control.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Mining Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with specific experience in underground mining environments.
• Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software (e.g., Rocscience suite, FLAC) and ground monitoring techniques.
• Strong understanding of rock mechanics, soil mechanics, and geological principles relevant to mining.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills for site-based teams.
