About the Role

Our client seeks a dynamic and experienced Mine Operations Manager to oversee operations at their key site near Newcastle upon Tyne . This leadership role is crucial for ensuring the safe, efficient, and profitable extraction of mineral resources. You will be responsible for managing all day-to-day activities, from planning and execution to team leadership and performance monitoring. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mining engineering and a proven track record of successful operational management, ideally within a hybrid work structure that balances site presence with strategic remote engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive operational plans to meet production targets safely and efficiently.
• Manage and mentor a diverse team of mine workers, engineers, and supervisors, fostering a strong safety culture.
• Oversee the maintenance and effective utilization of all mining equipment and machinery.
• Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Monitor operational costs and implement strategies for cost optimization and productivity improvement.
• Conduct regular site inspections and performance reviews, reporting findings to senior management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Mineral Processing, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in mine operations, with at least 5 years in a management or supervisory role.
• In-depth knowledge of various mining methods (e.g., open-pit, underground) and equipment.
• Proven ability to manage large teams and complex operational budgets.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to adhere to a hybrid work model , requiring regular presence at the Newcastle site.
