About the Role

Our client seeks a highly motivated and experienced Mine Operations Manager to oversee all operational aspects of their mining facility in Newcastle upon Tyne . This senior leadership position requires a strategic thinker with a strong track record in managing large-scale mining projects, ensuring safety, efficiency, and profitability. You will be responsible for day-to-day management, resource allocation, and fostering a productive work environment for a diverse team of mining professionals. This is a critical role that demands exceptional leadership and a deep understanding of underground and surface mining techniques and challenges, ensuring the site meets its production targets and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct and manage all daily mining operations , including production, maintenance, and safety protocols.
• Develop and implement operational strategies to meet or exceed production targets and cost objectives.
• Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations, fostering a strong safety culture.
• Manage the operational budget, optimize resource allocation, and control operational expenditures.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of supervisors and operational staff.
• Liaise with other departments, including engineering, geology, and procurement, to ensure seamless operations.

Requirements

• A degree in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of progressive experience in mine management , with a significant portion in operational leadership roles.
• Proven experience in managing complex mining operations, preferably in the UK mining sector .
• Strong knowledge of mining equipment, technologies, and best practices.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and decision-making abilities.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
