Mine Planner - Underground Operations

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Mine Planner with expertise in underground operations to join their strategic team in Edinburgh . This role is fundamental to optimizing the extraction process, ensuring mine safety, and maximizing resource recovery. You will be responsible for developing short, medium, and long-term mine plans, incorporating geological data, equipment capabilities, and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of underground mining methodologies, contributing to the efficient and safe operation of their mining assets.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed short-term, medium-term, and long-term mine plans for underground operations.
• Utilize mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, MineSight ) to generate mine layouts, production schedules, and stope designs.
• Collaborate closely with geologists, engineers, and operations personnel to integrate geological models and operational constraints into plans.
• Perform reserve calculations and optimize resource extraction sequences to maximize economic value.
• Conduct feasibility studies and mine design reviews for new projects and existing mine expansions.
• Ensure all mine plans comply with stringent safety regulations, environmental standards, and operational best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine planning, with a significant focus on underground mining .
• Proficiency in industry-standard mine planning software and 3D modeling.
• Strong understanding of various underground mining methods (e.g., caving, shrinkage, cut-and-fill).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate technical plans to diverse audiences.
