About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Mine Planner to contribute to their underground operations near Nottingham . This role is integral to developing safe, efficient, and technically sound short-to-medium term mine plans. You will work closely with geological, engineering, and operational teams to optimize mine design, scheduling, and resource extraction. Your expertise in 3D mine planning software and understanding of underground mining methods will be crucial in ensuring the successful execution of mining plans and maximizing resource recovery, contributing to the overall success and productivity of the mining operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and update short-to-medium term mine plans and production schedules for underground operations.
- Create detailed 3D mine models and designs, including stope layouts, development drives, and access routes.
- Perform volumetric calculations and assess ore reserve utilization within the planning horizon.
- Collaborate with geologists to integrate geological models into mine plans.
- Work with operations personnel to ensure plans are practical and achievable.
- Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments for new mining areas or methods.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in underground mine planning and design.
- Proficiency with industry-standard mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Surpac, Vulcan).
- Strong understanding of various underground mining methods and their associated planning requirements.
- Knowledge of geological modeling and resource estimation principles.
- Excellent spatial reasoning, analytical, and communication skills.
