Mine Planning & Design Specialist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly analytical and experienced Mine Planning & Design Specialist to contribute to their operations based near Belfast , Northern Ireland. This role is central to the strategic development and operational efficiency of the mine, involving long-range planning, resource modeling, and the creation of detailed mine layouts. You will work closely with geological and operational teams to ensure that plans are technically sound, economically viable, and adhere to the highest safety and environmental standards. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize long-term and medium-term mine plans, considering resource geometallurgy and economic factors.
• Create detailed mine designs, including pit outlines, ramp systems, and production areas, using specialized software.
• Perform mine simulation and scenario analysis to assess the impact of different planning strategies.
• Collaborate with geologists and surveyors to ensure accurate resource and reserve modeling.
• Liaise with operations personnel to ensure plans are practical and can be executed safely and efficiently.
• Prepare technical documentation and reports for internal review and external regulatory submissions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in mine planning and design, preferably in open-pit or underground operations.
• Proficiency in mine planning software such as Vulcan , Surpac , or similar.
• Strong understanding of mining methods, geotechnical principles, and operational constraints.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex geological data.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
