About the Role
Our client is looking for an innovative Mine Planning Engineer to contribute to their global mining projects through remote simulation and design work. This role involves developing long-term and short-term mine plans, optimizing resource extraction sequences, and utilizing advanced modeling software. You will work closely with site-based engineering teams to translate operational needs into effective and efficient mine designs. This position is ideal for a skilled planner who thrives on complex problem-solving and can deliver high-quality strategic plans from a remote location, ensuring the optimal extraction of mineral resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed mine plans , schedules, and budgets for open pit and/or underground mining operations.
- Utilize mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac) for geological modeling and production planning.
- Optimize extraction sequences, equipment utilization, and mine layout for maximum efficiency and safety.
- Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new mining areas or modifications.
- Collaborate with geological, geotechnical, and operational teams to integrate diverse project data.
- Prepare technical documentation, including mine design reports and production forecasts.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in mine planning and design.
- Proficiency with industry-standard mine planning and modeling software.
- Strong understanding of mining methods, geology, and geotechnical principles.
- Experience in evaluating mine economics and financial returns.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills, suitable for remote work.
