Mine Planning Engineer - Resource Development

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Mine Planning Engineer to contribute to their resource development projects near Brighton . This role is critical for the strategic planning and design of mining operations, focusing on optimizing the extraction of mineral resources in a safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible manner. You will work with geological and engineering data to create detailed mine plans, production schedules, and cost models, playing a pivotal role in the long-term success of our mining ventures.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop short-term and long-term mine plans, including pit designs, access routes, and production schedules.
• Utilize mine planning software to model different scenarios and optimize resource recovery and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with geologists to interpret resource models and integrate them into mine plans.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new mining projects or expansions.
• Ensure mine plans comply with all relevant health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation related to mine planning activities.
• Liaise with operational teams to ensure effective implementation of mine plans.

Requirements

• Degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in mine planning and design, preferably in open-pit or underground mining.
• Proficiency in industry-standard mine planning software such as Deswik, Vulcan, or similar.
• Strong understanding of geological data interpretation and resource modeling principles.
• Knowledge of mining methods, equipment capabilities, and operational constraints.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
