About the Role
Our client is looking for a skilled and forward-thinking Mine Planning Engineer to join their team based in Belfast . This role is central to developing and optimizing long-term and short-term mining plans that maximise resource recovery while ensuring operational safety and environmental sustainability. You will work with geological data, survey information, and production targets to create robust mine designs and schedules. Collaborating closely with operations, geology, and engineering departments, you will play a crucial part in the strategic direction and efficient execution of mining projects, contributing significantly to the economic viability and responsible development of mineral resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed long-term and short-term mine plans , including production schedules, pit designs, and underground layouts.
- Utilise mine planning software to model geological data, optimise resource extraction, and ensure operational feasibility.
- Conduct geotechnical and geological analysis to inform mine design and ground support strategies.
- Collaborate with operations teams to ensure plans are practical, safe, and align with production targets.
- Monitor mine progression against plans, identify deviations, and implement necessary adjustments.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations on mine plans, reserves, and operational performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in mine planning or design, preferably within the mining industry .
- Proficiency with industry-standard mine planning software (e.g., Vulcan, Deswik, Surpac).
- Solid understanding of geological principles, geostatistics, and resource estimation.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and environmental considerations in mine planning.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
